I'm obviously behind the curve on this one...how does ARG UK fit in with Froglife's (previous?) role ?

(and any update on NARRS would be useful, I got the discussion document through, but I'm unclear if the objectives have been set, as laid out in the phase 1 plan)

Well the ARG UK - Amphibian & Reptile Groups of the UK is now an independent organisation which no longer has Froglife as its secreteriat - Froglife's role was to arrange the coordinating panel meetings and the Herp Workers Meeting -

In October last year the name change was decided and it was decided at short notice to put on the Herp Workers Meeting - as Froglife wasnt going to put one on in February - instead they are organising one in London -

The ARG UK in particular the chair Jan Clemons has made it clear that the ARG UK will be the organisation which represents the interests of all the ARG Groups of the UK - with connections also in Eire

We are aiming to work with all the relevant bodies - EN, EA, CCW, SNH, Froglife, BHS and HCT -

The Herp Workers Meeting was in many people's opinion the best one organised for a long while - this was despite Froglife pulling out of the meeting at short notice (read into that what you will) - the reason who knows? it was confidential

In regards to the NARRS - we had a presentation on this at the HWM and we also had a workshop on this and we hope that this will be reporting back soon - also pilots are planned for this spring and summer so look out for more news etc

Regards

Jon
